Visualization of finance concepts

“I am Matthias Scholz, a college and university instructor in finance and accounting.

I believe concepts are best explained with illustrative examples and visualizations.

Teaching finance classes led me to write an introductory textbook on financial derivatives that describes the pricing and valuation of forward contracts.

Some finance concepts, such as contract values that change over time, can be shown directly as animations. That led me to start finanim, an experimental academic education project that uses animations to visualize finance concepts. The name finanim combines “finance” and “animated.”

Currently, this website presents the textbook with sample pages and gives information about my teaching. The animations are in development, and I plan to present them here as they are completed.”
