Academic education

I hold a BBA and an MSc from Mannheim Business School (Executive Master of Accounting & Taxation), with a focus on international accounting (IFRS) and German, European, and international tax law. I am a German Certified Public Tax Accountant (Steuerberater) (currently not in public practice).

Experience

Professional experience

Before entering academia, I worked in corporate finance, M&A, private equity, and international tax at Big Four firms and corporations, advising family offices, private equity firms, and corporate holdings. My mandates included tax and financial due diligence, investment structuring, and negotiations with tax authorities in cross-border cases with links to Europe, the U.S., Latin America, and China. My industry experience spans media, automotive, steel, and finance.

Before my career in finance, I worked on German and Chilean film and television productions, starting as a teenager and continuing as a student. My roles included assistant lighting technician and dolly grip. I later ran my own media production company producing corporate videos. The work covered production planning, photography, design, filming, editing, post-production, and distribution.

International experience and languages

I grew up in Germany, southwest of Munich, in a region called Allgäu close to Austria and Switzerland. I have lived in Austria, Chile, China, Spain, Central America, and the U.S. Most recently, I made British Columbia, Canada, my home. German is my native language, and I am fluent in English and Spanish.

Outside of work

Outside of work, I enjoy ski mountaineering, Latin dance, and long-distance travel. For example, I spent a year traveling by bicycle from Anchorage, Alaska, to Panama City, Panama.
